Performing on teacher’s day

Teachers are someone who gives every single child the hope that gives them strength to survive and grow, the one who enroots us with the knowledge, basic values and determinism. They are someone who teach us how to face the problems in life with courage and a strong mind and heart. Every year our school celebrates Teachers’ Day and taking this is an opportunity to show my gratitude towards them I chose to sing few songs with my friend Mahin and thank them.

The learning outcomes I came across were:

Learning outcome 1-Identify own strengths and develop areas of growth:

I have always been passionate about singing and singing has been the activity which helps me calm down. Since childhood I have been to many singing classes and have developed into singing. As I always wanted to show gratitude and thank all the teachers for everything, they have done for us, I used singing skills as a strength and chose to perform on the teacher’s day.

However, as a performer, I have stage fear which made me nervous while I sang in front of approximately 60-70 teachers at a time and because of this I was not able to give my 100%. Moreover, for any performer expressions are a must and due to the nervousness, I was not able to have a good body language. So, the probable area of growth for me is to try and get over the stage fear and be confident enough to sing and perform with good body language and face expressions.

Learning outcome 4-Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:

To plan a better and successful event, the entire team of the event had to make sure that the planning started 2-3 weeks prior to the event. However, due to many misunderstanding the planning and the first meeting that was conducted was just 1 week before the event which gave more stress to all the team members as well. I and Mahin were also informed 1-week prior only to perform.

Even though the time for preparing was very less, I and Mahin showed commitment towards the event and made sure we practice as such as we can, and we were ready to face all the on-day difficulties.

Learning outcome 5-Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:

In the beginning of the planning itself, the entire team of this event was divided into further small groups for different category of work such as dance, music, host and games. This made me understand that working collaboratively not only helps an individual to develop social and communication skills but also helps the event planning to be smoother. However, there are many problems while we work together as many misunderstandings take place causing a delay in the tasks.

Overall, working together helped me improve my social skills and event communication skills regardless all the fights or misunderstandings that took place before and on the day of the event.

To end with, this event was a success, and I was able to show gratitude to make teachers as well.
