As part of the Rural Immersion Trip, I visited the Ambapani village in Gujarat. As part of the 6-day trip, I explored the local culture by visiting a few locals’ houses and the market where people from all nearby villages would purchase their monthly rations. As part of the trip, I also did some activities that the locals did, like Mud-Lippan on their houses, Warli Art on the walls and bamboo crafts.
LO3: Before visiting a local school, I planned with my friends about what games to play with the students there. We decided to play a variation of kho kho called making kho kho with the children. They thoroughly enjoyed the game. We also learnt one of the games that they would play often called “aathdu” (આઠડà«).
LO7: By looking at the hardships of the villages, and even living through them, I could empathize with them and understand how we take everything for granted. Even necessities like food, clean water, and simple sanitation were obtained through hard work in the village. This made me question my actions in the city.
