I participated in the Global Odyssey 3.0 event as a member of the Accounts and Food Team, where our primary responsibility was managing the funds throughout the event.
LO-3: Showcase the initiation and planning of a CAS experience
As part of the organizing committee, we engaged in thorough preparations well in advance, recognizing the challenges associated with coordinating an event of such magnitude. This involved meticulous planning, including a comprehensive evaluation of various approaches. For instance, we explored the possibility of implementing a coupon system to streamline transactions at the event, considering the elimination of cash transactions altogether. However, after careful consideration of potential drawbacks, we ultimately decided to stick with cash transactions. Our planning efforts also extended to the management of food stalls, reflecting the entire organizing team’s dedicated time and energy to ensure the event’s success.
LO-5: Demonstrate collaborative skills and acknowledge the benefits of teamwork
Being a part of a substantial organizing committee, my role required seamless teamwork. Effective communication and collaboration were essential for inclusive decision-making that considered diverse perspectives. It was crucial to ensure that each team member thoroughly understood their individual responsibilities for effective execution. This collaborative effort extended to the management of food stalls, where coordination played a pivotal role in ensuring the overall success of the event.
LO-6: Exhibit engagement with globally significant issues
During the event, we actively addressed issues of global significance by aligning with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of ‘Responsible Consumption and Production.’ Our efforts aimed to reduce unnecessary waste by limiting the use of non-reusable spoons, plates, and glasses, contributing to the sustainability aspect of the event.
