Coastal Cleanup

I actively engaged in a substantial beach cleanup initiative organized in Surat to commemorate World Coastal Day, dedicating my efforts to cleaning up the Dumas Shore area. This involvement deepened my comprehension of the pressing environmental issue of indiscriminate waste disposal on beaches and its potential ecological ramifications.

Learning Outcomes:

LO-2: Undertaking Challenges and Developing New Skills

Confronting the challenge of delving into community service for the first time, I initially grappled with unfamiliarity regarding the process and how to inspire others. However, as I actively participated in the initiative, I gained valuable insights into community service and cultivated the skills essential for future endeavors.

LO-5: Demonstrating Collaborative Work Skills and Recognizing Benefits

Acknowledging the intricacies and time constraints in cleaning a specific area, I employed social skills to rally participants and foster collaborative efforts. This not only optimized time management but also ensured an effective and thorough cleanup of all designated areas.

LO-6: Engaging with Global Issues

This CAS experience revolved around addressing the issue of land pollution resulting from the thoughtless disposal of trash on beaches, emphasizing the global significance of preserving coastal environments. The accumulation of waste poses a threat to marine ecosystems and organisms, underscoring the critical importance of maintaining clean and sustainable coastal areas worldwide.

LO-7: Recognizing and Considering Ethical Choices and Actions

Participating in the beach cleanup project allowed me to contribute to the societal cause of safeguarding oceans from pollutants, aligning with ethical choices and actions. My involvement not only aligned with societal benefits but also supported environmental sustainability, rendering it a morally upright decision.
