CAS trip

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I’ve always considered myself an inquirer, full of curiosity and creativity. In Padamdungri, my strengths in imaginative thinking came to light as I engaged in crafting bamboo and warli paintings, which resonated with my love for the arts. However, I also identified areas for growth, such as my initial hesitation in social interactions and unfamiliar physical tasks. I consciously worked on these by leading activities and participating in adventure sports, which helped me to develop my social skills and physical endurance, showcasing my journey towards becoming a more well-rounded learner.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

Facing challenges head-on is a testament to being a risk-taker. Learning a new instrument and the local dance were daunting, but I persevered, demonstrating that stepping into the unknown can be a profound learning experience. Rock climbing was another challenge that tested my limits. Despite the initial fear, I developed new physical skills and a stronger belief in my capabilities. These experiences contributed to a newfound confidence in tackling challenges that lay outside my existing skill set.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

As a thinker, I took great care in initiating and planning the diverse activities for our CAS experience. From the skit that required understanding local traditions to the intricate details of organizing a trek, my planning skills were essential. I ensured that each activity had a clear objective and was structured to achieve our CAS goals, reflecting my ability to strategize and execute plans effectively.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

The rigor of continuous engagement in various activities over six days demanded a high level of perseverance. Whether it was persisting through the physical demands of farming or the meticulous task of applying cow dung lipan, I remained principled in my commitment to each task. This steadfast dedication not only contributed to the success of the experience but also reinforced my personal value of commitment to any undertaking, no matter the challenge.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Collaborative skills were pivotal throughout my CAS experience. As a communicator, I learned to work alongside others in meal preparations, where coordination and active listening were key. The mural project was a collective effort that required exchanging ideas and blending different artistic visions. This collaborative spirit fostered a shared sense of achievement and highlighted the benefits of teamwork in achieving common goals.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance

My involvement with farming and sustainable practices brought to light the critical global issue of environmental sustainability. I became more caring and responsible, recognizing the importance of sustainable living. This engagement deepened my understanding of our interdependence with the environment and the need to adopt practices that support ecological balance and sustainability.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Throughout my time in Padamdungri, being reflective about the ethics of my choices and actions was crucial. Teaching local children required sensitivity to their learning styles and cultural background. The ethics of interacting with a different culture came to the forefront, ensuring that my actions were respectful and added value to the community. This ethical consideration extended to every aspect of the experience, from environmental consciousness to cultural interactions.
