CAS Experience 4 – Trekking and Rappelling in Nature Camp

Every year students are taken on a Nature Camp (Trip). After 2 years of Pandemic, the school took us on a trip this time too. This time school took us on a trip to Mount Abu, where multiple activities such as Trekking, Mountain Climbing, Caving and Rappelling were planned.

Through this CAS Experience I have met many of the Leaning Outcomes.

LO1 : This was the first time I would be trekking, so I did not have much idea as to what to expect from it. So while trekking I focused majorly on the skill behind it, and tried to understand it to a good extent. Knowing my own limitations allowed me to improve these weaknesses and turn them into my strengths.

LO2 : On the very first day we had our first trek. This was a great experience but a tiring one, and knowing that the next trek was going to be much longer and much more exciting, I tried to understand the skills underlying this experience. This enabled me to enjoy and sustain throughout all the treks that came thereafter.

LO3 : To experience the full thrill of the treks, it was important to focus on the slightest of details. I carried as less things in by trekking bag as possible, and drank water conservatively on treks, to be able to sustain for a longer period of time.

LO4 : I took part in all activities even when I was extremely tired. This allowed me to enjoy all kinds of activities and learn new things along the way. For example I learnt how to play a new game, ‘Seven Stones’.

Through this CAS Experience the one Learner Profile that I developed was surely Courageous. Throughout the trip I did many things for the first time, such as Caving, Rock Climbing / Rappelling (on a natural rock) and Trekking.
