Trekking Mount Abu

We went on an educational trip to Mount Abu, for 4 days which was organized by the school. The trip consisted of 3 different treks and other adventure activities, like caving, rappelling, rock climbing. The treks were varying as one of them required endurance, whereas one of the treks required strength and courage (Golden Horn Trek). The treks were done in groups so it required team work and cooperation to complete the trek safely, and the treks also helped me identify my strengths and weakness, both physical and mental. There were also team activities that were organized which helped build teamwork and cooperation within the group.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

During the trek I was able to identify my strengths and areas of growth as there were many challenges and activities where I was able to recognize my physical and mental strengths but also moments where I faced a lot of challenges leading to identifying areas for self-growth through experience. This educational trip thus, helped me identify my strengths but also helped me to understand my areas for growth and helped me develop them.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

During the trek there were many activities/challenges that I had done for the first time in my life, for example an 11 km trek or rappelling were new challenges that were undertaken by me to develop my physical and mental skills. This also helps me to move out of my comfort zone by challenging myself by taking part in challenging activities. The skills learnt through this trip were determination, and also physical traits like endurance and strength were developed.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS Experience

In this CAS experience I had shown perseverance at many points in time because there were moments where I felt that I can’t continue due to the physical challenges but I decided to push through it and it helped me develop my commitment skills as well. On the treks halfway through I felt very exhausted but due to the cooperation and presence of coaches I pushed through and showed perseverance throughout the 4 days of living on the campsite.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

During the whole educational trip, there were many team/group-building activities that were organized, through which we aimed to learn more about cooperation and working collaboratively with each other. These games helped developed communication skills and also helped understand the dynamic of working in a group. Along with that, the 4 days we had to stay with our friends outside of our comfort zone, which helped us adapt to living alone and also led to working together with our friends throughout the trip to ensure that all of us are comfortable. The benefits of working together is that you get motivated by seeing other people do the same things and also helps you adapt to the new challenges and risks faced, as all of your colleagues are doing the same.
